Mazzucchelli Acetate: Cotton, Powders & Rollers

Since 1849, Mazzucchelli has created much of the best acetate in the world.

This material is derived from cotton and turned into cellulose acetate, a transparent raw base for adding color. The colors are applied with organic powders and repeatedly sent through rollers for the desired thickness. Each time an acetate sheet is made, technicians save a sample in order to recreate the pattern later. All Mazzucchelli acetate goes through this repetitive weeks-long process in order to achieve the desired color patterns.

And then they’re ready for Randolphs. All Randolph frames feature Mazzucchelli acetate temple tips for a smooth wearing experience, but some styles take this material even further.
