Raptor in Matte Black with AGX Glass Lenses

Built To Military Standards

We wanted to make a difference. Leave a mark. Be proud of something. So in 1978, we joined forces with the U.S. military to produce the HGU-4/P Aviator for fighter pilots. Each Aviator is built to strict guidelines of MIL-S-25948 standards, a 20-page document detailing the most complex manufacturing specs around.

Guaranteed for a lifetime. Or two.

Built to a higher standard using the world’s finest materials, we stand by each pair of frames we make. So much so, that we offer a lifetime warranty. Take them with you around the world, and back again.

23K Gold and Other Premium Metals

The same precious metal finishes found on the world’s finest timepieces are layered on at up to 5x the industry standard.

  1. 5 out of 5 3 times is a charm.......

    I love the feel of the glasses on my face. I like the construction and the precise fitting of all components. I bought one pair and lost them somewhere (they have a tendenance to walk off) so then I bought two more pairs. when I find something I like I several because I’m afraid they are going to change them in the future.

  2. 3 out of 5 Probably I Just need time to get used...

    Honestly lost my good old RayBan the Aviator which served me well, thus got a legal excuse to buy a Randolph, which longed for long. Red lot of positive feedbacks. Finally it arrived. Well – what can I say? Not very much of disappointment, but very close to. The size is really small , although my face is not so big, rather of modest size, low frame hindrances my ability to look at the instruments ( I am a professional pilot ). And what really annoys me – it is a reflection of my own eyes. I always see my own retina, I never did with my RayBan! Well, may be I will love it, just give me a time, presently I am uncertain – so many positive ratings, may be I just do not understand something. One more point – the case. Extremely soft, very much suited for braking precious content…and buy a new one. So, for the time being – bought a hard metal case from HongKong, trying to get accustomed for Randolph, and… looking for an alternative. Such a pity that http://www.serengeti-eyewear.com/Sunglasses/Products.aspx does not have a non-polarised version! You cannot fly a modern airplane with a polarised one. I like the Serengeti dearly, almost sleep with it, but they are good for driving only. Probably Randolph is good for a helicopter pilot, I am on the Airbus… not sure. Do not want to emphasise too much on a negative features – here are the positive ones – the appearance is really cool, above any expectation, the quality is perfect, and delivery- literally three days across the globe, I am really impressed. Promise to publish a new review once ( if) change my mind. Blue skies for fellow aviators!

  4. 5 out of 5 Raptor Review A+++

    The Raptor fit perfectly and is so light and comfortable you forget your wearing them. I bought them for motorcycle riding and they slip on with my full face helmet with ease. The wide lens provides added protection from corner sunlight yet the visibility to the sides is great. I highly recommend them for any application. I bought two and gave one to my riding buddy.

  8. 5 out of 5 Excellent

    Very good lenses. Lightweight overall. 'Was unsure about plastic lenses versus glass, but the light weight of these glasses makes them very comfortable to wear for long periods.

  13. 4 out of 5 Husband is pleased

    My husband had some of the Oakley Tightrope sunglasses that got lost on Black Friday. These are much lighter weight and look very similar. The glasses don't wrap around his face quite as well as the Oakley pair did so I took off one star, but he likes them still. Plus, Made in America counts for a whole bunch in our house!

  14. 4 out of 5 Comfortable, Contemporary Aviators

    The raptors, I admit, are not the most fashionable aviators. They can't be narrow, like 1990s-style sport glasses (think Agent Smith in The Matrix). And they cannot be as tall as 1930s (classic) or 1980s-style Aviators (Intruders). The Raptors, in order to be newer, have to be in the middle ground between sleek and functional. They end up looking like 1990s shades that have been stretched to provider more coverage.

    Having said that, I came around to purchasing these after about 2 years of contemplation. I had to have better polarized glasses for driving. A pair of hipster sunglasses from Moscot was not cutting it. And looking at the market, I was not going to go for a pair of Maui Jim or Sarengeti drivings glasses like every other middle aged guy. I wanted to support my home region (I'm from Brockton, MA), and get a pair of glasses made in the USA. So they had to be from Randolph Engineering. And I'm glad I went with these. The protection and clarity are first rate. The spring hinges are among the vesy best I've seen. They are light, comfortable, and have a contemporary matte frame. No bling here. Just comfort, with a tactical edge. While these might not look great while wearing a suit, these are the specs to use on the road or in the air.
