  • Aviator Fit Guide

    The size 52mm Aviator is designed for narrow faces, or those that prefer their sunglasses to fit slightly smaller than the width of their face.
    Size

    If your total PD (pupillary distance, found on your prescription) is between 54-60, choose size Small 52mm or Size Regular 55mm.

    If your total PD is between 60-65, your best frame size is Regular 55mm or 58mm.

    If your total PD is between 65-70+ your best frame size is Large 58mm or XL 61mm.

    Note: It is best to size up if you are in between.

    Are you familiar with Randolph eyewear sizes and fit? If not, one guideline to compare frame sizes is to determine the size of a comfortable frame you already own. The frame sizes are universally listed as:"Lens Width - Bridge - Temple" is usually on the inside of the temple or sometimes under the bridge of the frame. For example: "55-20-145." If you already own a pair of Randolphs, you can find your size by checking under the bridge, the size is listed as "Lens Width - Bridge" for example "58-20."

    Classy Stylish Sunglasses

    I have never bought Randolph Sunglasses and in fact had never heard of them as I don't know anything about sunglasses.

    I ended up choosing Randolph because I wanted sunglasses that met the following requirements:

    Real glass lenses - better optics, they don't scratch like plastic lenses do and they also look more stylish and upmarket.

    Grey lenses - I predominantly want glasses for driving and on holiday or socialising with people. I don't want to wear sunglasses every day. So, I needed sunglasses that block out very bright light, but still enabled me to drive, socialise etc without everything being too dark or with unnatural colours. So the American Grey hit the spot here.

    I went with the white gold option - because I wanted something akin to men's jewelry as it were. Watches, sunglasses and cufflinks are basically what I consider men's jewelry that is timeless, stylish and it doesn't look cheap or flashy! I am not a huge fan of yellow gold for myself, so I prefer white gold for the sunglasses, stainless steel for watch etc.

    I am very pleased with my new sunglasses. The lenses, the frame - everything - it really looks very stylish especially when the light shines on it with that sparkle that only proper jewelry can do. I wanted sunglasses that would last a long time, but I also wanted men's jewelry that I consider to be elegant and polished and these sunglasses fit the bill perfectly for those requirements. I won't go back to plastic ones like Oakely again!

That sparkle you noticed is exactly what our metal finishes are built for. The 52mm’s tighter teardrop shape is true to the original design, but it’s great to hear it feels natural for you. If you ever want a slightly more relaxed shape, the 57mm could be a perfect fit.
