27 Year Old Vintage Aviator Sunglasses

27 Year Old Vintage Aviator Sunglasses

A great pair of quality sunglasses never go out of style. Wear them right and a high-quality pair of sunglasses can go from a morning hike to evening cocktails and never look out of place.

Randolph USA sunglasses are designed and engineered to last a lifetime – and we mean that. Handcrafted by our team of experienced artisans out of our factory in Randolph, Massachusetts in over 200 individual steps. Randolph frames are built to last a lifetime of adventures, where other brands may break over time. This is proven in ShadeReview’s latest YouTube video where he reviews a pair of 27 year-old US Military Issued Randolph Matte Chrome Aviators with American Gray SkyTecTM glass lenses.

Sunglasses that last a lifetime.

Who is ShadeReview?

ShadeReview is the most subscribed-to sunglasses review channel on YouTube with over 28 thousand followers. He is a certified sunglass aficionado with hundreds of pairs of frames in his collections. As a huge sunglass fan, many of his frames are, of course, Randolph USA sunglasses. Last year he even named our Cobalt and 23K Gold Aviators his Best Polarized Sunglasses of 2020 – that’s quite the compliment!

27 Year-Old Aviator Sunglasses

When ShadeReview came across this pair of vintage standard issue Aviators he couldn’t walk away empty handed. He purchased them from a US Air Force Military Veteran who was issued the frames on base back in early 1995. In his video you can see the original packaging, including our Military Issued vinyl case (which was also handmade at our factory in Massachusetts) and the cardboard shipping box dated December 20th, 1994 – the date these frames were built. Today, our Military Aviator frames are still standard issue to many areas of the US Military, plus, we also work on a number of top secret projects for Police Forces, Military Cadets and Soldiers for Protective Laser Eye Wear Programs, Special Medical Eye Wear programs and more.

A little age, a lot of stories.

So how do they look? After 27 years of consistent wear, we think they look pretty darn good! Of course, over their quarter-century in service, these Aviators have accumulated a few scuffs and scrapes here and there, but no bends - and more importantly - no breaks. They’ve lived up to our limited lifetime guarantee – whereby we warrant the solder joints of frame for life. This durable Matte Chrome pair of Aviators really has stood the test of time. The SkyTecTM glass lenses had a few minor scratches, but the clarity and integrity of the lenses are fully intact.

$25 Tune-Up Service

Following this video, ShadeReview sent his Aviators into our engineers for a $25 Tune-Up Service where they underwent full inspection, cleaning, tightening and rejuvenation of the frames to restore them to their former glory. ShadeReview requested the existing temple tips and nose pads were not changed (which we would usually do as standard), as the age tells an incredible story.

Quality. Craftsmanship. Longevity.

These iconic Aviator shades won’t go out of style. Invest in a pair of great quality Aviators and you too could be wearing your frames in 2048.
