Practice Makes A Perfect Pilot
Congratulations to our friend Chris Marshall in the UK on his first helicopter flight as a licensed pilot!
After months of training, time and effort the day came that he was ready for his first trip as a qualified pilot. His friend accompanied him to capture plenty of photo-ops (see photos below). The weather was less than ideal, but well within limits. Chris started out by flying around the outskirts of London. Eventually, he even ended up flying over a wedding venue that he was attending that same weekend. The location is not too far from Dorking in Surrey. Talk about a bird’s eye view!
For this momentous occasion, Chris piloted a Robinson R22 helicopter out of EBG Helicopters Ltd at Redhill, Surrey. The two seater chopper has a unique “T-Bar” control. This special kind of control allows passenger and pilot to enter and exit the helicopter easily. The R22 is widely used for helicopter training.
As far as his eyewear choice for this event, we asked why he chose Randolph Aviators. Chris replied: “Optics and comfort make these the best glasses around for pilots.” Chris then added: “I don’t wear any other glasses than Randolph when I fly.” Chris has since flown in Oahu, Clearwater (FL), Las Vegas, France, the Grand Canyon. Of course, he is attuned to the skies of London and around the Channel Islands where he lives.
Next week, Chris is bringing his tried and true pair of Randolph Aviators all the way from the UK to Nevada, USA. There, he will be flying a helicopter over the Colorado River. Stay tuned for more pics from his flight.
Best Wishes for Blue Skies
Chris, we’re glad you chose to wear Randolph Aviators for piloting and wish you many more fun-filled and adventurous flights!
