Q. I have broken a lens in my RE sunglasses. Can they be replaced, and if so, how much will it cost?

Q. How do I find a Randolph Engineering dealer?

A. Please refer to our Dealer Locator

Q. How long will my order take to ship?

A. While we make every attempt to ship your order the same day, a small order typically ships within 48 hours, or 2 business days. An order of 10+ frames may take longer.

Q. How do I care for my sunglasses?

A. While Randolph Engineering sunglasses are built to surpass rigid military specifications that demand extreme durability, properly caring for your sunglasses will keep them working at maximum capacity.

For everyday cleaning, simply wipe both the frame and lenses with the RE Lens Cloth, provided with every pair of sunglasses. For a more thorough cleaning, wash the frame and lenses with a mild soap or detergent and warm water, rinse and shake dry, then wipe off excess moisture with the RE Lens Cloth. RE also provides a Lens Cleaning Kit with anti-fog lens cleaning solution. Click here to learn more.

If the temples become too loose over time, simply tighten the temple screws using the optical screwdriver provided in the Equipment Maintenance Kit. This kit is included with every pair of RE sunglasses. Click here to learn more.

Q. What are polarized lenses?

A. Polarized lenses reduce glare from reflective surfaces such as water, snow, or the hood of a car. This is done through a process called polarization, which works much like Venetian blinds reduce sunlight through a window.

Basically, sunlight is either absorbed or reflected horizontally, diagonally or vertically through polarized light-waves. Horizontal polarized light-waves cause the most problems for the human eye. When light reflects off of a horizontal surface, it hits your eye at the same angle. As a result, the glare you see is even stronger than the ambient sunlight around you. Polarized lenses have a filter containing tiny horizontal blinds that allow only vertically polarized light to enter your eyes. Glare is eliminated because the horizontally-polarized light can’t get past the horizontal blinds.

Since glare (or horizontally-polarized light) is 7-10 times stronger than ambient light, it’s extremely harsh on your eyes, resulting in fatigue or headaches. Our Polarized Gray lenses filter glare at above industry standards for further protection and visual clarity.

Please note: These are not recommended for use inside aircrafts with polarized gauges – the double polarization may cause the gauges to appear too dark to read. For glare reduction without using polarized lenses, try our Flash Mirror lenses.

Q. Do your lenses block UV light?

A. Yes, all of our lenses absorb 98-100% of harmful ultraviolet rays and allow 12-18% of visible light to pass through; the ideal comfort level for most wearers.

Q. What is the difference between your glass lenses and polycarbonate lenses?

 A. We offer both mineral glass and polycarbonate lenses in our sunglasses. Based on your preference and how you plan on wearing them, there are advantages to both:

Our mineral glass lenses are exceptionally scratch-resistant, and provide absolute distortion free clarity and UV protection. They’re also precision ground and chemically tempered for impact resistance that exceeds ANSI Z-803 standards. Recommended for pilots, driving, and everyday use.

Our polycarbonate lenses are made from the same material we use for our RE Ranger shooting eyewear. They are extremely lightweight, highly impact resistant, and provide 100% distortion-free clarity and UV protection. Recommended for cyclists or motorcyclists, outdoor sports, and those who prefer extra lightweight eyewear.

Q. Will my sunglasses come with a case?

A. Yes, all complete sunglass units (a frame with lenses) are placed inside an attractive hard case with a micro-fiber lens cloth. As an added feature, an Equipment Maintenance Kit is now included. Click here to learn more.

Please note: A frame ordered without lenses will come in a micro-fiber pouch. We also offer an array of sunglass cases for purchase here.
